Placing your baby for adoption
Support and guidance if you’re considering adoption for your baby or child
If you’re pregnant and feel you may not be able to raise your child, adoption is an option you can consider once your baby is born or even if your child is already living with you.
This is a big and important decision, and we encourage you to reach out to us. If you’d prefer, your midwife or GP can contact us on your behalf.
How we can help
We’re here to support you every step of the way. We can:
- arrange a visit before your baby is born
- offer advice and support during pregnancy and after birth
- explain the law and your parental rights
- talk you through the adoption process—what happens, what to expect, and the support available now and in the future
If you decide to go ahead, a social worker will help you plan your child’s adoption, taking your wishes and feelings into account. They’ll also discuss how the birth father may need to be involved.
